About John



    John is a business leader, a veteran and a community volunteer, not a career politician.  He has a diverse background that includes Army Special Forces, a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Missouri and serving as an Executive for a major energy company.  John will bring the leadership and new ideas that Jefferson City desperately needs.

     As an influential member of Kansas City’s business community, John understands how to help businesses grow.  John was an employee of KCP&L for 30 years.  John began working for KCP&L right out of college and through hard work  retired as President of subsidiary Great Plains Power.

    Community service has always been an important part of John’s life.  He has been involved in many community service projects throughout the years.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Carondolet Health Systems, and was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Kansas City Employees Retirement System. 

 
    John earned his education through hard work and service in the U.S. Army Green Berets.  John later went on to graduate school where he earned an MBA in Finance.

    Family is very important to John, he has been married to his wife, Mary, for 33 years.  Together they have six children, John (31), Annie (29), Melissa (26), Emily (24), Michael (23) and Elizabeth (21).  John was raised in a strong Catholic family, which emphasized being active in the church.  With his faith as the cornerstone of his life, John has been an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church since 1977 and also serves as a member of the Board for the Diocese of St. Joseph-Kansas City.
